6 Keys For Basic Search Engine Optimization

Today we’re going to look at 6 keys for basic search engine optimization. These are so simple anyone can do them. One of the reason many fail is because they’re always looking for complicated “secrets” and ways to build a spectacular website.

You can have the most killer website content in the world. But if no one is viewing your website, it won’t matter.  It’s like hanging a Rembrandt painting in a closet. It’s beautiful, but it’s invisible. The same goes for your website.

SEO (search engine optimization) can make your website appear at or near the top of page rankings on the major search engines.  Here are six basic tips to get you started.

1. Keep track

Keep an eye on your page rankings and search standings. You can check this out through Google Analytics and other free tools. You can check it quickly by doing a search for your site’s keywords in search engine fields.

If you’re having to click back to the third and fourth pages, or even further, you’re not going to like how few people are visiting your site.

2. Don’t go crazy with keywords

Back in the day, web designers and SEO experts thought it would be really smart to pile on as many keywords as possible in their website. For lower quality sites, the keywords were just tossed onto the page, with little or no regard for making the site actually make sense.

It’s still important for you to put lots of keywords on your site, but it’s best to keep saturation down to 3 to 4 percent. That will keep your site from being flagged for spamming the search engines.  Plus, you’ll get a lot more traffic.

3. Use internal links

Use internal links to send your viewers from one page to another within your website. This strategy makes navigating your site more user-friendly.

At the same time it will give your search engine rankings a boost, due to the fact that listing placement has a lot to do with the number of visitors you have.  There’s no ethical way to fake that number. Use the internal listings capacity to make your site a giant web that your users will never want to leave.

4. Create a site map

Put a site map on your website. Not only will this help you keep the pages organized – it’s a strategy the search engines reward with higher rankings. You can now find excellent plugins that make creating a site map both flawless and incredibly simple.  So, do it! Remember, the keys for basic search engine optimization are simple, so keep it simple! Many people fail because they overcomplicate things.

5. Use clear, relevant keywords

Make it simple for people to find your website by using clear keywords. With the right keywords, your site will match what people out there are looking for.  That’s the very best way to find new, highly targeted customers. If people are searching for what you are selling, you have to use keywords that convey what you’re selling to the search engines so they can find your site.

There are so really good applications you can use to show you different keyword searches people have been using.  Try to adjust your keyword totals to match those popular searches. That will bring potential buyers to your site before they go to your competitor’s.

6. Keep at it

Maintaining a successful website is difficult, but the labor is about quantity rather than complication. Take the time to follow these six keys for search engine optimization, and you’ll watch your site’s rating for popularity climb.  Your user base will notice, too. When it comes to potential customers, there are never “too many.”
